About
Who are you?
No one all that special. I am a father of five, three boys, two girls. The husband of one wife for 16 years. I started playing with computers in junior high (the late 70’s), when a friend snuck me into the terminal room of our local university to play Trek on the mainframe. I was hooked when I sat down at a TRS-80 in the Math dept. and copied a little BASIC program in that used extended ASCII characters to make a little animated dog run across the screan (well, it kinda’ looked like a dog… sorta’) . TRS-80’s lead to Tandy Color Computer’s, then a brief period with DOS and Windows (I’ve pretty much blocked out that traumatic period of my life, tho’) before I launched into a life long love affair with Linux. I switch to using Linux as my primary desktop in 1998 and haven’t turned back.
It was my work at that same university serveral years later that introduced me to my to other two life-long loves in quick sucession – my wife, Wendy, and my Lord, Jesus.
Why “Waggle Dance”?
I like the fact that bees don’t have voices, maps, street signs, GPS, notepads or pencils, or blogs, but they manage to share the important bits of information needs to get through their day. By design, they say what needs to be said by their actions. St. Francis of Assisi is reported to have said, “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.”
Doesn’t that sorta’ preclude having a Blog?
Maybe…
Why does your site look weird in my browser?
Get a real browser. Internet Explorer 7 is also reported to view this site correctly, but since I can’t run IE7 on any of my Ubuntu Linux boxes to verify it, YMMV.
